HSBC and 6% reg saver
13th Jul, 2012 at 2:28pm

Have just got a HSBC current account for nothing more than the regular saver and wondered if anyone knew how long the money had to stay in the account for it to qualify as funded. I know it has to be 500pcm, but should it be funded a la Halifax (straight in, straight out) or should it be left over night?

Also, does the regular saver have to be funded from the current account? Can't see any mention of it on site.

...and one more thing. Can you really not see it on internet banking? Managed only in branch? What happens when it matures? Does it show up on your internet banking then?

Thanks

It looks to me that you have to open an HSBC Premier account - which requires...

1) Have savings or investments of at least 50,000 with HSBC in the UK; or
2) have an individual annual income of at least 100,000  ** AND ** one of the following products with HSBC in the UK:
- a mortgage;
- an investment, life insurance or protection product;

So I can't see that its worth it - as i'd have to take out a "protection product" as well?... just to get an HSBC Premier... just to get a 6% regular saver account for 12 months...?? (or am I missing something?)

They've opened up the HSBC Advance to anyone now, so we should all be able to benefit from the 6% rate!

Yes, seems to be.  Just need to pay in 1,750 a month, doesn't seem to be requirement for DDs as well

No DD requirement. Max monthy input to the regular saver is only 250/pm though.

You do also get some benefits with the HSBC Advance through: advancebenefits co uk -
I've saved on some APH airport parking already.

it'd be good to see HSBC and/or Barclays offer interest on current accounts, in return for that monthly payment coming in, a la Club Lloyds.

"To be eligible for a Regular Saver you need to have one of the following HSBC current accounts: HSBC Premier,
HSBC Advance, HSBC Passport, Bank Account, Bank Account Pay Monthly or Graduate Bank Account.

You can only hold one Regular Saver Account at any given time."

Is it not detected by their system or what ?. If so, worth to try, as we have nothing to loose ((e.g no credit check).

Would you please share your knowledge, how did you manage to get the second one ??
