Amazon Credit Card

Here's a link to the latest Amazon credit card:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/cobrandcard

These days it's issued by NewDay (known for Aqua, Marbles and Opus cards) and integrated directly to Amazon accounts. There's a £20 gift for opening an account. It earns rewards at the rate of 0.75% for Amazon spending (could be double for Amazon Prime members according to this page) or 0.5% elsewhere. Gifts and rewards are Amazon credit not cash.

In the current climate, not a bad card (or backup card) for spending!

i tend to agree Sarah. there is not much else around, and Amazon is a beast in terms of having a diverse retail offer.. at the moment Amex/Barclaycard still works for me, along with a healthy chunk of Amazon shares :)

Are your Amex cashback rates being cut?

They're changing (yet again) for most 'Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card' customers on 31 January 2018 with the 1.25% tier being removed completely and the spending threshold for 1% cashback moving up from £3500 to £5000.

The similar card with a £25 annual fee retains its 1.25% tier, starting at £10000 spending.

Ah, okay. I see from MSE that the upcoming change only affects Amex Platinum cardholders who opened accounts between 22 August 2015 and 8 August 2016. It's the second change in as many years for us; presumably that's why we're the last to be switched over, whilst other affected cardholders have apparently already been moved to the lower rates. It would be unfair for rate changes to last any less than 12 months, since there are account terms based upon yearly spending targets.

I'm not significantly disadvantaged by the Amex cashback changes right now, as I don't use my card for anything other than Amex Offers at the moment.

Anyway, back to topic - just clicked to apply for an Amazon Credit Card but the sign-up offer has been cut from £20 to £10 now. I'll leave it...

They obviously love you! :-)

I presume your card is equivalent or similar to the £25 fee card, even if you don't pay the fee!

sounds about right. i'm working on the basis that i haven't missed bad news though..

i've got a large transaction going through at the moment, so i will be interested to see what sort of cb it generates. annual payment is late Feb, i think.
