As a valued customer, we wanted to let you know that we're planning to increase your credit limit from £5500 to £9000 on 1 December 2016.

Your credit limit will update automatically unless...

(it is easy to log in and reject this, and actually I see there is an option to "Reject all future credit limit increases")

I don't need this, and I wont be able to use it to stooz with as although the limit has gone up, there won't be a good introductory deal to go with it, so if the total I have available to borrow increases, will that harm my credit score...?

To banks etc, does it look better that I have....
a) Lots of available credit and I'm not using it...
or
b) My available credit is a senisble proprtion of my income....?

No definitive answer.... having at least one high limit helps, using a low percentage helps, but having unused credit hurts... *shrug*

Quite a sensible answer here:

However, this is an MBNA card... so if I were to keep one card with a high credit limit, perhaps it would be best if it *weren't* MBNA.

There are plenty of perspectives on this subject so you're probably best to form your own view from the collective and go with what gives you confidence.

I like to think think big limits in the past lead to bigger limits in the future, so I always accept them. Even if I plan to shut the account shortly.

fwiw i wouldn't ever reject it.. if the card is useful the higher the limit the better. and if it isn't, best to close it.
