not all of the Regular Savers lock the money away, bear in mind
HSBC-stable accounts cannot be accessed, but TSB and Nationwide ones can, i think.. anyone confirm?

if your balance remained at, say £3,000+, with money in & out, DDs etc. qualifying in all respects, then the interest you would be paid on the £2,000 will be the 4.89%, or whatever it is, which over the year compounds to 5%. it doesn't compound in terms of interest being calculated on the higher...

i have quite a lot set up with Tesco Internet Saver and Monmouthshire Building Society. the latter don't set up new DDs now though, unfortunately. i have others with small Friendly Society society investments, and with a Credit Union that i'm a member of. along, of course, with Credit Card payments ...
