Thanks for replying planteria. I've been pondering today and I think I might go down the route of opening a couple of current accounts for the incentives, Co-op £150, nationwide £200 (with recommend a friend) - plus some TCB or Quidco.
I should have more chance of being accepted for these than a new credit card.

I got approved for a halifax for 40 months, but sadly with a low limit of £2600
I also enjoyed getting my free experian report from barclaycard this month. It wasn't a click and go experience, you have to wait 24 hours from requesting it, but still... I got a score of 999
