Their new Spend & Save account looks a little tempting for the introductory cashback (£5 per month for 6 months) but note it says that conversions from "Classic" accounts don't qualify. If that includes Classic Plus too then it'll be necessary to open new account(s) to earn cashback.

not worth the hassle for £30 imo.. by the time you get in the habit it will be over too.

I might give it a go, but not rushing into it.

1/3 more TSB branches to close - perhaps just a matter of time before the govt/regulator permits a takeover!

it's a subsidiary of Banco Sabadell.. are they likely to need/want to offload TSB?

No idea, I don't know what their success criteria are but as a customer TSB certainly seems to lurch from one problem to another!

Quidco have recently been paying £30 cashback for new customers opening this account. It's now £50 for a short time (possibly today only).

Opened the new Spend & Save account via Quidco last week and now have it up and running, with £50 + bonus tracked at Quidco. It remains to be seen whether or not they'll pay out again since I'm an existing customer, but seemed worth another try. I was forced to create a new online profile during the application (same as last time I opened a TSB account via Quidco) although this time they've written to me saying they've noticed I already had a profile and have automatically merged the new one into the old one. So that might kill the Quidco cashback, but I'll still play for the £30 debit card cashback and at least hope they don't lock my accounts as happened a year ago after I ended up with two active profiles!

The debit card that I received looks the same as all previous ones, not this trendy new style seen online!

i noticed the image of this new card when i logged in to do my round robin on 4th.. i guess that is to come.
if you bag the 50 as an existing customer i'll be tempted to try too, if the deal comes back.
